September feeling a long way off?

We know. It’s ages until Lewisham LitFest starts. So cast your gaze slightly west for Brockley Max, a week of arts events over in SE4. There’s even a few literary events to get you in the mood…

  • Chris Horton, Declan Ryan and Malene Engelund host a night of poetry, prose and music at The Orchard (29th May, 5pm)
  • Trombone poetry from Paul Taylor about his worldwide travels at The Talbot (30th May, 8pm)
  • Brian Millington performs political poetry, and one about the P4 bus, at Mr Lawrence (31st May, 7.30pm)
  • the faction theatre group performs A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Brockley Jack from 31st May (8pm, £12 / £10)
  • Storytelling’s not just for kids – Peter Searles tells his tales of Peru at The Orchard (1st June, 7pm)
  • More poetry from local writers at Mr Lawrence (1st June, 7.30pm)
